Description
The Adams family is back with another dose of Brother Love! The brand has become a household name throughout the Western Cape and beyond since brothers Loukmaan and Emo first combined their diverse talents as an explosive duo five years ago. Now they're back with more hilarious sketch, stories and of course, as always, the magical, dynamic music.
Brother love 2 follows on from where the first popular instalment left off but dips back into the past of their humble Mitchell’s Plain beginnings with ease. Of course the whole Adams family plus the now extended family come up for special treatment by this dynamic duo. Watch out for Mrs Adams at her Zumba classes while Mr Adams soldiers on with his variety concerts in the Civic Hall.
The two daddies also give good advice on the pajama drill. As always there is a special guest... this time round it is the talented Mono Dullisear who has a rich history with Loukmaan and Emo. Together they shared many stages around the world and at home. He was also a member of the popular JAG and as a trio their voices quite simply lift the roof.
Basil Appollis cracks the whip as director.

Description
Lekas is ’n opwindende nuwe stem in Afrikaanse teater.  Die teks en produksie is deur NATi in samewerking met die Baxter Teater ontwikkel.

Description

From Koe'siestes To Kneidlach had an incredibly successful premiere season earlier in 2017 at the Auto&General Theatre on the Square, Johannesburg, as a co-production between Daphne Kuhn and Kizara Kreative. Public demand brought it back to that theatre and other venues numerous times for once-off performances. The team is thrilled and excited to showcase this ‘kosher comedy’ to a Cape Town audience this festive season at the renowned Baxter Theatre celebrating its 40th year! Written and performed by Chantal Stanfield with direction by Megan Furniss. Show music by Paul Choritz with pre-show music compiled by RJ Benjamin. Lighting design by Megan Furniss and Alfred Rietmann. Here's what some reviewers had to say. "[Stanfield is] an engaging and vivacious actress. Her writing is sharp, funny and spot on, as she describes the comments and re-enacts the situations and scrapes that come with a cross-cultural relationship." - Lesley Stones, The Daily Maverick
"to hold the attention of an audience as a solo performer for an hour is no mean feat. Adroitly directed by Megan Furniss… a fun night out and an entertaining theatrical diversion." - Peter Feldman, Jewish Report
"the narrative is so beautifully written that Stanfield has little trouble feeding the imagination of the audience." - Debashine Thangevelo, The Star "her first person narrative in this true story [is] alternatively funny, deeply empathetic and critical, a joy from beginning to end." - Robyn Sassen, My View
The Baxter Theatre Centre and Kizara Kreative in association with Daphne Kuhn and A&G Theatre on the Square present. FROM KOE’SIESTES TO KNEIDLACH
The bizarre, comedic and true story of what happens when a girl from the Cape Flats gets involved with a Jew-ish boy from Joburg’s East Rand! This one-woman piece sees 'Chantal', a girl from the Cape Flats, navigating a world of new Jewish experiences, from meeting the boyfriend’s family at her first shabbos ever to late-night benching (no, not the gym kind)! She wrestles with confusion over her identity and the various labels that are placed on her while trying to understand Yiddish (oy vey!), gefilte fish and decades-old faribels! She deals with the confusion over what to wear to a bris (ritual circumcision of infant boy) and being questioned about her afro hair. This uniquely South African tale reveals first-hands experiences of being a Goy (a Yiddish word used by some Jews to describe a non-Jew), and a so-called 'Coloured' one at that. 'Chantal' tries to get to grips with a culture and heritage that is so vastly different to her own but sometimes surprisingly similar. Along the way we meet the omnipresent voice of her mother, her gay best friend and her first Rabbi, among others.
